The difference between single layer and multi-layer thickness of bellows expansion joint?

The thickness of the corrugated compensator is usually determined by the working pressure value in the pipeline. Generally, the bigger the working pressure, the bigger the thickness, and the more layers are selected. On the contrary, the smaller the working pressure, the thinner the thickness, and the less layers selected. The difference is mainly divided into the following points:

(1) Pressure bearing capacity: When the total thickness of the multi-layer corrugated pipe is the same as the thickness of the single-layer corrugated pipe. The circumferential film stress and radial film stress caused by pressure are not affected. Because the material of each layer of the multilayer structure is thinner, the radial bending stress caused by the pressure increases.

(2) Rigidity: As the material of each layer is thinner, the axial rigidity of the bellows decreases and the flexibility increases.

(3) Stability: The material of each layer of the multi-layer corrugated pipe is thinner, and the column qualitative and planar stability of the corrugated pipe decrease.

(4) Fatigue life: Because the material of each layer of bellows is thinner, the radial membrane stress and bending stress caused by displacement are reduced, and the fatigue life of the multilayer structure is higher than that of the single layer.
